Mullumbimby Wedding Celebrant

Mullumbimby is the festival-and-farm-town of the Byron hinterland — Mount Chincogan in the background, organic everything in the foreground, and a wedding scene built around country halls and working farms rather than resorts.

Mullumbimby hinterland wedding ceremony in golden afternoon light

Mullumbimby has been the Byron hinterland's quiet creative hub since the 70s, and weddings here have a distinctly different feel from the beach Byron set. You're more likely to be on a working farm at sunset, eating something grown that morning, with Mount Chincogan in the photos. Less surf, more pasture. Less polish, more soul.

The town itself centres on the 1929 Mullumbimby Civic Memorial Hall, a heritage indoor space that handles weddings up to 150 — proper bones, beautiful proportions, no theming required. Just outside town, the surrounding hills hide some of the best regenerative-farm and hinterland-hall venues in the country.

"Mullum weddings are the ones where the music goes longer, the dancing gets sillier, and the food is the talking point for years."

Where Mullumbimby weddings happen

For working-farm weddings, Frida's Field at Eureka and The Farm at Byron Bay at Ewingsdale are two of the most photographed hinterland properties around. Both 15 minutes from Mullum. For heritage country halls, Coorabell Hall (a restored 1920s timber community hall on a ridge) is ten minutes south. And for couples who want a chapel-and-garden setup, Byron Weddings at Federal has both.

For something polished and private, Coorabell Estate is a luxury hinterland property with on-site accommodation — increasingly the choice for couples who want their wedding to feel like a long weekend.

I travel up from the Tweed Coast — about 40 minutes — and a small travel fee applies for Byron Shire weddings. For couples wanting an intimate option, a legal-only ceremony at any of these spots works beautifully. From $550.

Quick questions

Relaxed, creative, food-forward, often farm-based. Less white-and-formal, more linen-and-flowers. Music tends to go later and the dance floor stays full.

About 20 minutes by car. Couples regularly split accommodation across both — bridal party in Byron, family in Mullum, ceremony somewhere in between.

I'm based at Casuarina on the Tweed Coast, about 40 minutes north. A small travel fee applies — usually $80 to $150 depending on the day. Always quoted upfront.

Yes, regularly. I'm a native Spanish speaker and write ceremonies in Spanish, English, or any blend of the two. Increasingly common at hinterland farm weddings where guests are flying in from overseas. More on the Spanish ceremonies page.
