Pottsville Wedding Celebrant

Pottsville is the relaxed, family-friendly south end of the Tweed Coast. Long beach, generous foreshore reserves, and a community hall that punches well above its weight for weddings.

Couple signing the marriage certificate at a Pottsville ceremony

Pottsville is one of those Tweed Coast towns that grew up around a long, broad beach and never developed a single landmark venue, which is exactly why couples love it. You get the wide foreshore reserves at Coronation Park, the unbroken sweep of Pottsville Beach, and a town centre that's far more relaxed than the Cabarita-Casuarina end of the coast.

Pottsville weddings tend to be one of two things: a casual beach ceremony along the council-permitted foreshore, followed by a function at the Pottsville Beach Community Hall or the Sports Club. Or, for couples wanting an all-in-one venue, the Sports Club handles both ceremony and reception. The Memorial Hall is a beautifully-restored deco space with a full kitchen, AV, and capacity for 120 seated.

"Pottsville is the town where the kids run loose, the dogs come to the ceremony, and nobody minds. That's what makes it Pottsville."

Where Pottsville weddings happen

For the beach-ceremony classic, the Pottsville foreshore reserves along Tweed Coast Road and the Coronation Park lawns are both Tweed Shire Council park-hire ceremony sites. Permit, set up, and you're ten metres from the sand. For something indoor or rain-proof, the Pottsville Beach Community Hall is the best community-hall wedding venue I've seen on the Tweed — proper kitchen, stage, AV, plenty of natural light. Up to 120 seated.

The Pottsville Beach Sports Club handles larger receptions and has on-site catering. Couples often combine a ceremony on the beach or at the foreshore with a reception at the Sports Club or the Hall.

For an intimate, no-fuss option, my legal-only ceremony works perfectly on Pottsville Beach. Two of you, two witnesses, ten minutes, from $550.

Yes, on the council-permitted sections of the foreshore. Pottsville is one of the more dog-friendly beaches on the Tweed. If your dog is a ring-bearer, I've got you.
