Southport Wedding Celebrant

Southport sits on the Broadwater. Calmer water than the beach, dramatic skyline behind, and a stretch of waterfront parks that have become one of the Gold Coast's go-to ceremony zones.

Wedding ceremony signing at a Southport Broadwater venue on the Gold Coast

Southport faces west onto the Broadwater rather than east onto the surf, and that one detail changes everything. The water is calmer (no surf noise during your vows), the light is softer at sunset (gold over the water rather than harsh into the camera), and the city skyline sits behind the ceremony as a backdrop. Couples who don't want their wedding photos to look like every other beach wedding on the Gold Coast often end up here.

The Broadwater Parklands run the whole length of Southport's waterfront. Marine Stadium (the inlet just south of Sea World) is the most popular ceremony spot. Carey Park and Faceys Park have quieter foreshore ceremony zones. All of these need a City of Gold Coast park-hire permit, which I'll help you sort.

"Southport ceremonies face into golden hour. The whole Broadwater turns copper just as you're saying I do, and the skyline behind you is the kind of photo that stops a guest mid-scroll on Instagram."

Where Southport weddings happen

Sheraton Grand Mirage at Main Beach handles luxury weddings just up the road. Sea World Resort is the family-friendly resort option with full conference-style weddings. Marine Stadium is the foreshore ceremony spot most couples picture. Versace is just up the road for couples who want full polish.

For the broader picture, see my Gold Coast celebrant page. Up the coast: Surfers Paradise (covered on my Surfers Paradise celebrant page) and Main Beach. The Hope Island canal estates are five minutes north.

Quick questions

Calmer water (no surf noise during vows), better sunset light (sun sets over the water from this side), and a more architectural backdrop with the skyline. Practically: easier parking, more grass for chair setup, fewer wind issues.

Yes. The City of Gold Coast manages park-hire permits across all of the Broadwater foreshore. Inexpensive but lodge it 3-4 weeks ahead. I'll send you the form and help with the application.

Travel is included with Classic and Custom packages. Legals Only and Micro Wedding incur a small per-kilometre fee from my Tweed Coast base; quoted upfront.
