The Custom Ceremony is the Classic Ceremony with one big addition: I write you a fully customised love story. It's the bit that turns a ceremony from "lovely" into "I'll remember it forever". Your guests don't just witness a wedding, they re-live your relationship from the start.
Everything in the Classic Ceremony is here: a beautifully written ceremony, PA system, at least 30 minutes early to set up, smooth running of the day's ceremony moment, support with photos and announcements afterwards, all the legal paperwork. The Custom adds the deep-dive story work, longer ceremony, and ring vows written for you.
I send you a fun questionnaire 6-8 weeks before the day. It walks you through the questions that matter for crafting your story: how you met, who introduced you, the moment one of you knew this was it, the running jokes between you, the people you love and how they fit in, the hard bits you got through, the funny bits you keep coming back to.
You answer in your own time. We can do as much back-and-forth as you want, refining and adding until I have everything I need to write the love story and the ceremony that's truly yours.
From your questionnaire answers, I write the love story that sits inside the ceremony. It's told to your guests during the ceremony, in your voice but my craft. It'll make them laugh out loud at the running jokes, tear up at the moments that matter, and feel like they understand the two of you on a level they didn't before.
You see the draft before the day. We edit together. Nothing goes in that you haven't signed off on.
Your personal vows you still write yourselves, with my help. But the ring vows (the words you say as you place the ring on each other's finger) I write for both of you, drawing on everything you shared in your questionnaire. They sound like you because they're built from your story. Some couples like to see them ahead of the day; others choose to hear them for the first time on the day itself.
The Custom Ceremony is the version where guests learn about the couple's little secrets, and what they were feeling when they met. They might be laughing, they might be the good kind of crying.
The Custom Ceremony usually runs 30 to 40 minutes, sometimes a bit longer if the story has a lot to say. The Classic is 20-30 minutes; the Custom adds the love story portion, which is the bit that lands hardest. As with any ceremony, I'd recommend blocking out a full hour in your schedule for the ceremony slot to allow for arriving guests, signing and the first round of photos.
I'm based on the Tweed Coast, and the Custom Ceremony's included travel zone covers the Gold Coast, the Tweed Coast, Byron Bay, the Northern Rivers, and the Gold Coast Hinterland (Mount Tamborine, Springbrook, Currumbin Valley, Tallebudgera Valley). I regularly do Custom Ceremonies in Brisbane too — small travel fee for that, quoted upfront.
Australian law requires the marriage to be registered with Births, Deaths and Marriages within 14 days of the ceremony. I handle the lodgement and let you know once it's registered, usually 2-3 weeks after the day. If you'd like the official BDM marriage certificate (the one used for visas and legal name changes), I can lodge that application for you too. Small extra fee plus the government cost; you can also apply yourself online.
Bilingual option
If your guest list includes Spanish-speaking family, I'm a native Spanish speaker (born in Mexico) and run the Custom Ceremony in English, Spanish, or any blend of the two. Small Spanish moments inside an English ceremony are free; a fully bilingual line-by-line delivery is +$200 on Custom (the love story is significant work to write properly in both languages). Confirm the date and venue with me. At least one calendar month before the day we complete your Notice of Intended Marriage.

I send you a fun questionnaire to learn your whole story. We do as much back-and-forth as you want. Then I write the love story and your ring vows; you see drafts and we refine together.

I arrive at least 30 minutes before to set up the PA, settle your guests, sync with the photographer. Ceremony runs 30-40 minutes. I stay back for announcements and photos, then quietly head off.
The Custom adds three things to the Classic: a 6-8 weeks-out questionnaire where you tell me about your relationship from the start, a fully customised love story written from your answers (with as much back-and-forth as you want) and woven into the ceremony, and your ring vows written for you. Same warm delivery, same paperwork, same PA, same support on the day. The story is the difference.

$1,250. Local travel is included from anywhere on the Gold Coast through the Tweed Coast and into Byron Bay and the Gold Coast Hinterland. For Brisbane, the Northern Rivers or beyond, travel is $1 per kilometre. No hidden fees.
Yes. The ring vows are part of the Custom package. From your questionnaire answers I write them for both of you, drawing on what you've shared about your relationship. You can see them ahead of the day if you'd like, or hear them for the first time on the day itself (some couples love that). Your personal vows you still write yourselves, with my help.
Completely normal. You'll tell me what's in and what's off-limits via the questionnaire, and you see the love story draft well before the day. I never include anything you haven't signed off on, and I'm careful with family or intimate details. The goal is to make guests feel they know you better, not to over-share.
